As you all know that Aaron and I try very hard to read all ingredients on the food we eat and want to avoid certain things. One of them would be High Fructose Corn Syrup.
I wanted some cookies without having to bake them from scratch so I found these Nabisco peanut butter cookies. On the box of the cookies it said No High Fructose Corn Syrup (you can see this on the bottom left side of the box in green). I was very happy that I found them. So I bought them. I took the cookies out of the box and read the ingredients that was on the packet of the cookies and see what those ingredients said. *see below*
NABISCO 100 CALORIE COOKIE CRISPS PLANTERS PEANUT BUTTER 6 CT
Ingredients: ENRICHED FLOUR (WHEAT FLOUR, NIACIN, REDUCED IRON, THIAMINE MONONITRATE {VITAMIN B1}, RIBOFLAVIN, {VITAMIN B2}, FOLIC ACID), SUGAR, PEANUT BUTTER (ROASTED PEANUTS, CORN SYRUP SOLIDS, HYDROGENATED RAPESEED AND COTTONSEED AND SOYBEAN OILS, SALT), ROLLED OATS, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, MOLASSES, SOYBEAN OIL, CORNSTARCH, LEAVENING (BAKING SODA, CALCIUM PHOSPHATE), SALT, PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED COTTONSEED OIL, SOY LECITHIN (EMULSIFIER).
Low and behold High Fructose Corn Syrup. Needless to say I was not happy. So I emailed Nabisco. I told them how disappointed I was that they would advertise something that is not true. Below is what they emailed me back.
I am still very unhappy because in the letter they are still telling me that High Fructose Corn Syrup is OK. Well if it is so OK then why would you make it a point to advertise something that isn't a big deal. You will not be able to convince me that High Fructose Corn Syrup is OK even in small amount. It is not true. Your body is made to break down natural ingredients not man made. If your body can't break it down then it leads to obesity.
Hi Lisa,
Thank you for taking the time to visit us at http://www.nabiscoworld.com and for letting me know about your experience.
I'm glad that your keen eye noticed the error on our label regarding the high fructose corn syrup and that you took a minute to let me know about it and I've forwarded your comments to our Packaging Team for their review.
Please know that we've taken steps to minimize the possibility of this happening again.
I am sending out a reimbursement coupon to you via US Mail which you should receive within the next 7-10 business days.
We always strive to make a description that is accurate and representative of the actual product and never intend for the content and appearance of the product to be substantially different from any advertising we create.
Our consumers' safety and health are our number one priority, and we would not allow ingredients into our products that we believe would not be safe for consumption.
In regards to high fructose corn syrup, experts agree that there are no nutritional differences among regular sugar and high fructose corn syrup, and the body uses all types of sugar in the same way.
We use high fructose corn syrup because of its stability, consistency and functionality, as well as its cost. Kraft offers consumers a wide range of products to suit consumers' needs -- some contain sugar, others high fructose corn syrup or non-nutritive sweeteners, such as Aspartame - and these are clearly listed on the product's list of ingredients for consumers' convenience

My pregnancy
Just about 2 1/2 months to go. I have to say how lucky I have been. I haven't really had any kind of morning sickness. The first few months smells did make me feel a little sick but that is about it. I just can't tell everyone how happy we are to be able to have a baby. I was really giving up hope and now it is all real. Thank you God for this wonderful blessing. I am going to the doctor now every 2 weeks and everything is on schedule.

Sadie and the horn
Yes it has been a very long time since I have posted. I hope everything is going well. I am doing great. I will post again soon to give you an update on everything going on here. This is so funny. Someone gave me the toy for the new baby and Sadie just randonly goes to the toy and honks the horn. It has taken a couple of months to get it on film. There is no certain time she decide to honk the horn it just happens.
